Associate Professor David Lubans is the Theme Lead for school-based research in the University of Newcastle’s Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition. He is currently leading a program of research focused on the evaluation of school- and community-based interventions to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour in child and adolescent populations. He has over 90 peer-reviewed publications and as a chief investigator he has secured over $2 million in competitive research funding, including three Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Projects focused on physical activity promotion in young people. He is currently co-supervising 13 research higher degree (RHD) students and has two RHD completions.
