Marissa Dickins is a PhD Candidate at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Her area of study is the intersection between health and technology, primarily social media. Her thesis focuses on the issue of weight-related stigma within the context of weblogs. In particular, Marissa has focussed on examining the intersecting areas of stigma, weight and technology within naturally occurring phenomenon, complementing this approach with exploratory qualitative research methods in order to understand how individuals manage and cope with weight-related stigma in a comprehensive manner.
