In 2011 Lauren received a scholarship from the National Heart Foundation of Australia and the Vice Chancellors award to undertake her PhD in skeletal and cardiac muscle metabolism at Victoria University. Lauren's research focuses on the effects of novel G-protein coupled receptors on nutrient metabolism in the heart and skeletal muscle and how these receptors may be targeted pharmacologically in the safe amelioration of obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
