Liang Huang received his B.Ed degree in Sport Science from Shanghai University of Sport in 2006. He subsequently stayed on for a master's degree in Sports Medicine and pass with distinction in 2008. From 2006 to 2009, he conducted a series of biomechanical and sport medicine studies for adolescents, young adults and elderly adults. From 2006 to 2009, he worked as a technical director in a weight management center of Shanghai, providing professional service to obese children and adults. Since 2010, he is doing his PhD in the Biomechanics Lab of the University of Auckland. His research is looking at the implications of childhood obesity on the musculoskeletal and locomotor systems, the biomechanical and metabolic differences after weight loss or resistance training, and the use of subject-specific musculoskeletal modeling and simulation to qualify joint reaction force and individual muscle activity during movement. His future research interests may focus on the development of orthopedic device or treatment to promote musculoskeletal health and prevent progression of existing joint disease.
